I have been writing for as long as I can remember. As a child, I filled many composition books with hand-written stories and poems that I would share only with my younger sister, Danielle. I knew even then that I would be a writer when I grew up. I have had the pleasure of writing and publishing several scholarly essays, including "The Language of Advertising" and "Xala: a Comparison of Masculinity and Post-Colonialism in Africa." I have also published several poems in three different poetry anthologies. My writing as a Suite 101 contributor includes articles on pediatric Crohn's disease and lesson plans for the English classroom, among other topics. Currently, I am writing a post-modern novel, as well as several curriculum guides for middle school literature and writing.
I have been a teacher for several years, teaching English at the middle school level. Being a teacher has been very fulfilling to me because of my ability to share my love of reading and writing with my students. Several of my students had their own work published in teen publications under my instruction.
Aside from my teaching and writing career, I have also been a freelance editor for several years. I have edited professional material for local businesses and organizations. I have edited a novel for a budding novelist, nursing articles for nurses submitting work to the American Journal of Nursing, as well as many other articles and short stories.
Most importantly, I am the mother to two beautiful boys. We enjoy living in the beautiful White Mountains in New Hampshire and take advantage of all the seasonal outdoor activities this area provides.
